The Passport Ritual: A Humorous Guide to Preparing for a Flight

Preparing for a flight is often described as a calm, organized process. Travel experts on the internet will tell you to pack carefully, check your documents, and arrive at the airport on time. In reality, however, preparing for a flight often turns into a strange ritual focused on one very important object: the passport.

The Night Before the Trip

Everything begins the night before the trip. You stand in front of your suitcase, trying to look calm and organized, but in your mind there is only one thought repeating over and over: Where is my passport?

You check your bag. Then you check your table. Then you check your jacket pocket, even though you already checked it two minutes ago. Finally, after searching like a detective in a mystery movie, you find it exactly where you left it earlier.

Relief.

You place the passport carefully on the table like it is the most precious item in the house. Which, honestly, it probably is at that moment.

Packing Begins

Now the packing can begin.

You start placing normal travel items into the suitcase clothes, phone charger, maybe a toothbrush. But the passport remains on the table, safely visible. You glance at it every few minutes just to make sure it hasn’t mysteriously walked away.

Then your brain begins imagining strange travel scenarios:

• What if the airplane becomes cold? Pack an extra jacket.
• What if you get bored during the flight? Pack a book.
• What if there is no food anywhere in the world after you land? Pack snacks.

Soon your suitcase contains enough supplies for a small expedition.

But the passport? Still sitting safely on the table, like the VIP guest of the trip.

The Passport Checking Ceremony

After packing, the next phase begins: the Passport Checking Ceremony.

You pick it up.
You open it.
You look at your photo and briefly wonder why you look so serious in passport pictures.
You close it again.

Then, just to be safe, you check it one more time.

Travelers often develop a habit of checking their passport at least ten times before leaving the house. Some people even say the word “passport” quietly to themselves while walking out the door, just to make sure their brain remembers.

The Airport Experience

Eventually, you arrive at the airport. This is where the passport becomes the star of the entire journey.

• At the entrance: passport.
• At the check-in counter: passport.
• At security: passport.
• At boarding: passport again.

At this point, you begin to feel like your passport is the real traveler, and you are simply the assistant carrying the luggage.

While waiting at the gate, many travelers perform one final check. They open their bag, confirm the passport is still there, and close the bag again with great satisfaction.

The Passport’s Own Adventure

Of course, the passport also goes through its own little adventure during the journey. It gets scanned, stamped, and sometimes examined very seriously by immigration officers who flip through the pages like they are reading an ancient historical book. For a small booklet, the passport certainly travels through many hands and machines.

Sometimes you may even look at the stamps inside and think, “Wow, this passport has seen more countries than some people I know.” It quietly collects memories of airports, borders, and long journeys across the world.

The Final Check

Finally, you board the airplane, sit down in your seat, and relax.

Everything went smoothly.

But then, just as the plane prepares for takeoff, a sudden thought appears in your mind.

Wait… do I still have my passport?

Of course you do. You checked it a hundred times already.

But just to be absolutely certain, you quietly reach into your bag and touch it one more time.

Yes, it’s still there.

Now you can finally relax and enjoy the flight.

Congratulations. According to this completely unrealistic but very familiar guide, you are now fully prepared for travel with the most carefully protected passport in the world.
